Latex Leather: Let’s dive right into it. You’ve been making quite the statement with your fashion choices, particularly your affinity for latex. Can you share with us what draws you to this material?
Dua Lipa: Absolutely, Bridgett. Well, first of all, I think latex has this incredible futuristic, almost space-age quality to it that I find really appealing. When I put on latex, I instantly feel empowered and confident. It’s like stepping into another world, and that’s an amazing feeling.
Latex Leather: It certainly does create a unique visual impact. Can you tell us about your first experience wearing latex and what inspired you to incorporate it into your style?
Dua Lipa: My first experience with latex was during a photoshoot for one of my early album covers. I was instantly captivated by the way it hugged my body and accentuated my curves. It felt like a second skin, and I loved how it made me look and feel. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to incorporate latex into my style, both on and off the stage.
Latex Leather: And it’s safe to say you’ve done that quite successfully. How do you approach selecting latex outfits for different occasions?
Dua Lipa: Well, it’s all about balance and context. When I’m performing on stage, I like to go all out with bold latex looks that complement the energy of my music. I work closely with my stylist and designers to create custom pieces that are not only visually striking but also comfortable for movement. For more casual outings, I might opt for simpler latex pieces paired with other fabrics to strike a balance between fashion-forward and everyday wear.
Latex Leather: That’s a great approach. Now, some people might associate latex with discomfort or difficulty in wearing. How do you manage to make it look effortless?
Dua Lipa: You’re right; there is a learning curve with latex. It can be a bit tricky to put on, but once you get the hang of it, its very comfortable. It’s all about finding the right size and fit, using a good quality latex, and, of course, a little bit of latex dressing aid. Plus, the confidence and attitude you bring to the outfit play a big role in making it look effortless.
Latex Leather: Confidence is key, indeed. Finally, Dua, what would you say to people who want to experiment with latex in their fashion but are a bit hesitant?
Dua Lipa: I’d say go for it! Fashion is all about expressing yourself and trying new things. Latex can be an amazing way to break out of your comfort zone and make a bold statement. Start with simpler latex pieces like leggings or a top and see how you feel. And remember, confidence is your best accessory. If you feel great in what you’re wearing, it will show.
